Of Garissa
The Catholic Diocese of Garissa was established by St. Pope John Paul II on February 3, 1984. Rt Rev Paul Darmanin was appointed first Bishop (1984- 2016). He was succeeded by Bishop Joseph Alessandro (2016-2022). On February 17, 2022 Pope Francis appointed Rt Rev George Muthaka as third bishop of Garissa. He was ordained and installed on May 7, 2022.
